Orchid Propagation Protocols

Some crazy people (like me) like the idea of raising their own temperate zone orchids from seed. They have to be crazy if they realize how much money and time are invovled in the process. Rather than having these crazy people keep re-inventing the wheel I am supplying protocols that have worked for me. As a word of warning different populations of the same orchid species may respond differently to any given protocol. The first link discusses how to prepare your seed for sowing. Links two and three are the recipes for two good orchid plating and replating media, William Steele's "R" media which works great for most Cypripediums and Malmgren and Nystrom's "Standard Orchid Medium" which works quite well for most European Dactylorhiza, Anacamptis, and Orchis. The links following are protocols for specific orchid species based upon these two media.
